Greetings from the President, JoAn Segal

January – the calendar says it’s a new year, but what’s new about it?  The Chorale begins its singing year at the end of August, its fiscal year July 1, and its membership year in May!!

The hectic holiday season is behind us, and I hope you had a needed break from routine to celebrate (or not celebrate) holidays of various kinds.  I hope you had a merry Christmas, a happy Hanukkah, a joyous Kwanzaa, and that you will have a prosperous new year.  Most of all, I hope you return to the Boulder Chorale refreshed and eager for some great choral music.

You have all received a letter from Tim and me telling about the modifications in the spring concert program.  I hope you will all be pleased that we were able to keep 3 of our 4 promises: on May 6, the whole Chorale (promise #1) will sing, with the Boulder Phil (promise #2), in Macky Auditorium (promise #3).  We will not do the Brahms Requiem (promise #4), but instead Mozart’s Solemn Vespers and a program celebrating our 40th anniversary in truly grand style.  With luck, we will be able to add the Brahms to the first possible season!

New Logo Information by Sue Hintz-Siegrist

Congratulations to Julie Hale for submitting the winning logo in our Logo Design Competition. The new design will go into use in January. Julie also designed a new letterhead, envelope, and calling cards using the new logo.  Stop by the office to see her presentation of these designs.

Thanks so much to the other designers who entered the competition, and to the review group for helping me narrow the field. Your time and efforts are certainly appreciated.

From Chorale Tour Task Force

We are interested in hearing from Chorale members who have musical contacts in other countries.  If you feel you would be able to help set up concerts in a foreign country, please contact Julie and Jeff Hale at 303-494-1836 or by emailing juliehale1@msn.com

Boulder Dinner Theatre

Organized by Joanie Oram

'Shall We Dance?' I asked as I was 'Getting to Know You'.  Yes, these are just two of the beautiful songs which will transport us to the rich splendors of the Far East.  A romantic score and exquisite dancing form an enchanting blend of drama and music.  So 'Whistle A Happy Tune' as you join the group on Sunday, March 19th, 2006 at 6:15 at the Boulder Dinner Theatre for 'The King and I'. Tickets to this wonderful show are $42 for center seats and $37.75 for seats a little to the side. Checks should be made payable to: Boulder Dinner Theatre.  Esri Albritten, Alto, will take your reservations and checks during the breaks in rehearsals for the next few weeks!

Happy New Year 2006!

The turning of the year is the perfect time to take stock of the past and to focus on the New Year and the beginning of new opportunities and possibilities.  But before looking to the future, let’s take a look back and appreciate the contributions from people who have given in so many ways to the Chorale.   We are blessed to have so many members who find a reason to support us.  As an organization, we’re the better for it!! On behalf of the Chorale, please accept these appreciations….

Thank You!

-          For the merry bands of carolers who sang with grace and poise at the St Julien over three nights in December. You sounded terrific and the audiences truly appreciated your gift of holiday song.

-          To the anonymous donor who contributed over $1,500 to the Chorale to specifically fund the financial audit of our accounting books. In this anniversary year, it is such a gift to release us from this necessary but expensive task.

-          Thanks to the generous group of ‘Organ Donors’ (!) who contributed together for the special organ used during the Chamber Chorale Concert to be tuned.

-          To every Chorale member who has made a contribution to the Annual Fund this year.  We are truly humbled and appreciative that we can count so many of you as members and supporters as well.

-          To Tim, Kim & Mike for being available so often and working beyond the scope of your responsibilities to help the Chorale achieve success in everything it does.  You guys are great.!

-          Dear membership, we ask a lot of you.  From weekly rehearsal time to much more, including your support of all kinds of activities and events.  It all adds up to create an organization vibrant in growth, vitality and spirit! Thanks.

-          For the Board of Directors who take their stewardship of this organization so seriously and whose tireless efforts have brought this group so very far.  And, then add caroling at Whole Foods on top!!  Mille grazie.

-          Finally, thanks to all the volunteers who offer their time and graciously lend a hand wherever it’s needed.  You are the lifeblood of our group and we couldn’t shine without your efforts.
