The Boulder Chorale – My Community.

I think of the Chorale as a sort of community for me.  Many of my friends are Chorale members.  Some I met in the Chorale, some I introduced into it!  This is where I spend my Tuesday evenings, learning and singing beautiful music.  These are the people I spend time with on the phone and e-mail.  This is my interest in common with a large number of men and women.

We do other things together, too.  Things like going on tour to China, Italy, Austria, and Greece.  Things like Boulder Dinner Theatre outings, the IMAX show, Greece – Secrets of the Past.  Things like our wonderful upcoming Cabaret evening, “A Perfect Pair”, with Kim Needham and her friend Georgia Rogers Farmer (January 13, 2007 at the Dairy Center.)  Things like our 40th Anniversary Gala last spring. To me, that’s what a community is – a group of people with a shared interest, whom one cares about and with whom one undertakes activities.

We have one beautiful concert behind us and another only five and a half weeks away!  It’s a wonderful time of year for music, isn’t it?  And isn’t the Chorale a beautiful community?

Chorale Tour to Greece

Erin Christensen-Mandel, Coordinator

There are still a few seats available on the Greece Tour!  Please see me as soon as possible if you are interested.  The next payment for the tour will be due in January, but you can always pay early.   In the meantime, check out the IMAX movie “Greece – Secrets of the Past,” eat some gyros, and think warm thoughts.

As always, if you have any questions, please contact me:

King Soopers Grocery Certificates?

Dede Beardsley

King Soopers gift certificates are the effortless way for you to make money for the Boulder Chorale.  The key word here is: effortless!  It reminds me of one of my favorite fortunes: “You will earn thousands of dollars simply by doing nothing!”

How Does It Work?

Through the Boulder Chorale, you buy King Soopers gift certificates that are as good as cash at King Soopers and at some Safeways.  If you normally spend $200 each month on groceries, you’d buy $200 in certificates and use them as cash when you shop for groceries.

How do we, the Boulder Chorale, benefit?

We buy the gift certificates at the following discounts:

·                     3% if we purchase $200-$2499 in certificates

·                     4% if we purchase $2500-$4999 in certificates

·                     5% if we purchase $5000 or more in certificates

The key is getting into the 5% bracket.  We can do that by each buying just $50 each month in certificates; that would net the Chorale $250 each month.  If we each bought just $100 each month, the Chorale would make $500 each month...simply by doing nothing!  You do the math.

Details

I will have certificates to sell at the Marketplace during each rehearsal break.  (They come in $25 increments.)  So bring your checkbooks!  Make checks payable to the Boulder Chorale.  They’re great gifts, too!  Throw some in the direction of your starving college student, for example!  Thanks!

From Jeannette Hillery, Social Chair

THANK YOU to all the people who brought such a wonderful assortment of foods for the afterglow on Saturday.  It was marvelous and thoroughly enjoyed by all.  It made a lovely evening to a lovely performance.
