About Us:

Now celebrating our 42nd season, the mission of the Boulder Chorale is centered on performance, education and outreach.  We serve our membership though intensive vocal training and performance in three ensembles: the 140-voice auditioned Boulder Concert Chorale, Boulder’s oldest and largest community chorus; the Boulder Women’s Chorale, devoted to repertoire for treble voices and open to all interested singers; and the Boulder Chamber Chorale, an auditioned ensemble of 35-40 experienced singers founded in 2003.

The Chorale has been a steady presence in Boulder’s music community for 42 years and we are grateful for the long-term support of our membership, alumni, former directors and dedicated audiences.  Under the artistic direction of Timothy Snyder since 2001, the Boulder Concert Chorale collaborates regularly with the Boulder Philharmonic Orchestra and has performed with other regional ensembles including the Longmont, Jefferson and Timberline Symphony Orchestras, the Mercury Ensemble, the Kutandara Marimba Ensemble, the Colorado Hebrew Chorale and the Sinfonia of Colorado.  Recent seasons have included acclaimed collaborations with the Boulder Philharmonic and sold-out performances of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Rachmaninoff’s The Bells, and Verdi’s Requiem.  The Boulder Chorale each season presents concerts of smaller works, including new music of living composers, and unaccompanied choral gems from the 16th-21st centuries.

A tradition of international touring began in 2001 as the Chorale, in collaboration with Joan Conlon and the University of Colorado Singers, embarked on a Goodwill Exchange Tour to the People’s Republic of China, presenting concerts and master-classes in Beijing, Shanghai and Xian.  In 2003, the Chorale toured Italy, giving concerts in Rome, L’Aquila, Acciano and Florence. The Chorale toured Austria in 2005, performing at the Innsbruck International Choral Festival, and giving concerts in Vienna and Salzburg.  Summer of 2007 took the Chorale to Greece.

As part of our commitment to outreach and to ensure the future of choral music in our community, the Boulder Chorale sponsors several initiatives.  The Angel Ticket and $5 Tickets for Children programs strive to increase the accessibility of our concerts.  The Young Artists Vocal Competition and the High School Choristers Program expand our commitment to music education in the community.

BOULDER CONCERT CHORALE
Timothy Snyder, Director
The Boulder Concert Chorale is our organization’s largest performing ensemble.  A mixed chorus of 140 auditioned voices, the Chorale each season combines with orchestra in performance of large choral-orchestral masterworks.

BOULDER CHAMBER CHORALE
Timothy Snyder, Director.
The Boulder Chamber Chorale furthers the mission of the Chorale by providing an opportunity for interested members to learn, study and perform choral works composed for small ensemble. Selected by audition each year, the members of the Chamber Chorale are also singing members of the Concert Chorale. The Chamber Chorale performs a varied repertoire of works for small ensemble ranging from Renaissance polyphony and Baroque chamber music to works by contemporary composers.

BOULDER WOMEN'S CHORALE
Kimberly Needham, Director
The Boulder Women's Chorale furthers the mission of the Chorale by providing an opportunity for interested members to learn, study and perform choral works composed for female voices. The Women's Chorale currently performs with 50 female voices.
