From Jack Biddle, Chorale President:

Fun and Games at the Annual Business Meeting

Sure, we conduct business at the annual meeting. That’s why it’s called a “Business Meeting”. But it’s not ALL business. We share great food at this event and entertain each other with fun skits. Last year there were a couple of singing groups collaborating with our wonderful accompanists. One was an over 70 bunch (I somehow slipped under the radar) who dressed and acted the parts. The expressions, tie and suspenders, extra large type scores, etc were a riot.

We’ll include such fun in our agenda this year too. So form a group or perform solo. Let Jack Biddle (JackBCMT@aol.com) know your intent. The event takes place Tuesday, May 6 at Sacred Heart of Jesus downstairs. Setup will take place at 5:30 p.m. Feeding frenzy starts at 6:30 p.m.

See you there. Let the fun begin.

CHORALE-RELATED ACTIVITIES

Make Someone Else's Garden Grow
- Plant sale to raise money for the Chorale on Saturday May 10 in the parking lot of Atonement from 9 am to 1 pm.  Please consider donating any plants, flowers, shrubs, bulbs etc. from your yards and gardens, as well as houseplants.  Donations can be dropped off at the south side of Atonement (in the little area by the picnic table) on Friday May 9 or the morning of the sale, preferably not too late.  If you have cheap pots to put them in that's great, but plastic trash bags cardboard boxes also work.  Leslie Ratica (Sam Richman's wife) is organizing the event.  If you would like to help with the sale or have questions about donating plants please contact her by e-mail (preferable): lratica@comcast.net or phone: 303-494-2253, or speak with Sam.

The Boulder Chorale is a long standing institution of the Boulder community.  I would like to propose that we support the community the way that we would like the community to support us and make that a Boulder Chorale tradition.

"EFAA has been the community safety net for families for 85 years. We provide temporary help with food, emergency shelter, housing related expenses such as rent and utility bills and minor transportation and medical expenses. Before providing help, we talk with each person requesting help to assess their situation, to see what other resources can be of help and to develop a plan for them to once again become self-sufficient.

  • About 85% of the people we help are families with children and 15% are single people who are disabled or elderly.
  • 60% of those coming to EFAA for assistance are working at the time
  • In fulfilling our responsibilities, EFAA works closely with many other agencies and the faith community to insure services are coordinated."

                                                                                 Fromwww.efaa.org

Boulder Chorale can do something for EFAA.   Bring some of the items listed below to our Annual Meeting on Tuesday, May 6th so we can give back to Boulder .

Greatly Needed Items:  Large Quantities of

Macaroni & Cheese

Breakfast cereal

Chili

Canned fruit and corn

Peanut butter

Shelf stable juice

Large diapers

Toilet Paper

Shampoo

Another great way to support EFAA and Boulder Chorale is to buy scrip and donate it to EFAA (it would then be a charitable donation for you).  Staff use the gift cards to purchase needed items that are missing in their food bank.

Colorado Symphony Chorus’ Last Call for Summer Singers, submitted by Dan Seger, Chorale Member:
Arnold Schoenberg's GURRE-LIEDER is scored for a hug chorus to balance an equally huge orchestra.
This fact, combined with a number of our regular chorus members not choosing to participate, has created a need for additional "Summer Singers". Quite a few have already answered the call, but we still have openings, in all sections, for additional singers for this epic work!

There is only one performance, on Sunday afternoon, August 17, at 4:00pm, at the Music Tent in Aspen.

At this point, with only a few of these rehearsals remaining, singers with strong sight-reading skills and a familiarity with singing in German, are encouraged to join us at Trinity UMC, on Tuesday, April 29, at 8:30pm. Please forward this message and if interested, reply to this email.
